Yarra Valley and surrounds

Native wildlife and beautiful walking tracks, wineries, beautiful gardens, and stunning views... the Yarra Valley has it all.

Turn off the Maroondah Highway just outside Lilydale onto the Warburton Highway and explore what this corner of the Yarra Valley has to offer.

Walk, cycle or ride the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. When it opened in 1901 the railway gave fruit growers, farmers and the timber cutters of the Upper Yarra Valley vital access to city markets. Since its closure in the 1960's the 40km long line has been converted to a popular walking track through 185 hectares of reserve bushland. Wandin is 12 km from Lilydale on the trail.

While in Wandin visit Katandra Gardens, award-winning native gardens situated just around the corner from Mont De Lancey in Hunter Road.

Warratina Lavender Farm is nearby too, a short distance from historic Wandin Yallock Primary School (1870) and the Uniting Church of Wandin, formerly the Wandin Methodist Church (1880).

Continue on up the Valley and enjoy local wines at the smaller Wineries of the Warburton Highway.
