Eastern Woodturners

woodturning on a lathe

The Eastern Woodturners Inc have a purpose-built workshop within the grounds of Mont De Lancey. Their members are passionate about wood and creating beautiful items through the craft of woodturning.

Woodturners use a wood lathe and hand-held tools to create a wide variety of pieces from timber, such as bowls, tool handles, table legs, spinning tops, lamps, even circular chopping boards.

Members of the Eastern Woodturners regularly demonstrate the art of woodturning to visiting school groups and clubs who tour Mont De Lancey, and are present at annual events and festivals.

They meet at 7.00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, where visitors and new members are most welcome.

If you are interested in woodturning why not attend one of the Taster Courses offered by Eastern Woodturners Inc.

Hands on instruction is provided, introducing you to basic tools, safe procedures and spindle turning. Their introductory class goes for 3 hours. An advanced course on additional tools and bowl turning is also available.

Once you've successfully completed the Taster Course, you are able to make use of the club lathes when financial membership is completed.
